About Us
T.W McCarten & Son was started by Terry McCarten in 1975 as a one-man-band doing small building jobs. The company then grew and employed three staff including Clive, Terry’s son, and moved more into timber frame erecting, dry lining and artexing a few years later. Clive first started helping his father whilst he was still at school.
When the recession came in the 1980’s the company reverted to a one-man-band business. In 1997 Clive and Andrew returned to work for the business doing general building. In 1998 Clive became a partner and since then the firm has gone from strength to strength, covering all types of residential and commercial building.
In
2005 Terry retired and Clive’s wife, Marianne, became a partner. Now
there is a team of six versatile and skilled tradesmen employed by
the company and subcontractors are brought in
when needed. We have most of our own plant which means there is no
delay in construction on any jobs.
We are a member of the
Federation of Master Builders and of
HETAS.
We have a sister company, First Choice Homes (South West) Limited, which acts as a property developer, selling houses on the open market.
